Mike Garcia

After graduating with his degree in Environmental Horticulture, Mike founded Enviroscape LA, a full service landscape construction and tree service company.  Under Mike’s leadership, Enviroscape went on to earn over 100 landscape and pond awards at the local, state, national and international levels.

Mike’s work has been featured in numerous magazines, newspapers and television programs such as HGTV and A and E channel’s “Fix this Yard”.  The LA Times recently ran a full page article on Enviroscape’s contributions on the advancements of Rainwater Harvesting coupled with beauty in the landscape.  ABC Eyewitness news did a feature a few months ago on Mike's contributions to the Mira Costa Garden Club, designing and building a school Aquaponics system which grows food with recycled water.  Mike is currently volunteering time  at Environmental Charter high school, teaching students the art of “Rock Art”, designing landscapes with boulders.

Mike has spent many volunteers hours in local elementary thru High school projects to promote biological garden diversity in the garden, which teaches youth about partnering with nature in a genre of gardening called Permaculture.

Mike is a founding member and currently serves on the board of directors for the Manhattan Beach botanical garden, which Enviroscape landscaped over 30 years ago and is an all native botanical garden.  This was way before native plants were a “thing”.    Mike volunteers time with the South Bay Parkland conservancy and is a card carrying member of the Sierra Club.  Mike is very active in the world of pond contractors and Enviroscape’s most notable pond can be seen downtown Los Angeles at the California Science Museum.

Mike has served as a judge for the CLCA, to pick award winning landscapes for the annual landscape competition.  Mike has also served as a judge for the most notable ponds for Ponds Magazine.  Mike is also a prolific writer, writing for notable magazines, as Ponds Magazine and the CLCA magazine.  Mike also writes a column for the magazine “Manhattan Beach Local”.   Mike volunteered his time and crew to install the waterfall at the world famous Greystone mansion in Beverly Hills.  Mike also works hard to promote aeroponics, which is a way to grow nutrient dense food which recycles and reuses the same water over and over, resulting on over 90% water savings over conventionally grown food.

Mike has completed his Forest Therapy training from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.  Mike is a dual certified Health coach and a California Certified Naturalist.  Mike is a past president of the LA/SGV Chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association, having achieved the status of “Life Membership”.  On occasion, Mike flys to Sacramento to help the Contractors State License Board to revise testing for future landscape contractors.

Mike’s current mission is to teach youth there is no back - up planet, There is is “Plan B” for humanity.  Our planet is all we have and we must rise to become responsible stewards of our planet.  This is only possible if we feed pollinators and people, which is only achievable by planting native and edible gardens.  In his spare time, Mike loves to run marathons (He’s completed over 50 full marathons).
